Dynamic Simulations of Kidney Exchanges

چکیده
In this paper we develop a simulator modeling a kidney exchange program, in which donor-recipient pairs with characteristics drawn from a distribution based on real data join the system over time, and a centralized authority organizes a suitably chosen set of exchanges among the pairs in the pool at regular intervals of time, as it happens in the Netherlands or in the US. We compare and discuss the results of numerical simulations on this model varying the matching policy.

Increasing the opportunity of live kidney donation by matching for two- and three-way exchanges.
BACKGROUND To expand the opportunity for paired live donor kidney transplantation, computerized matching algorithms have been designed to identify maximal sets of compatible donor/recipient pairs from a registry of incompatible pairs submitted as candidates for transplantation. METHODS Demographic data of patients who had been evaluated for live donor kidney transplantation but found to be in...
متن کاملDynamic Matching via Weighted Myopia with Application to Kidney Exchange
In many dynamic matching applications—especially high-stakes ones—the competitive ratios of prior-free online algorithms are unacceptably poor. The algorithm should take distributional information about possible futures into account in deciding what action to take now. This is typically done by drawing sample trajectories of possible futures at each time period, but may require a prohibitively ...
متن کاملRobust dynamic optimization with application to kidney exchange
Kidney exchange provides a life-saving alternative to long waiting lists for patients in need of a new kidney. We derive a variety of mathematical models for the kidney exchange optimization problem, where the general goal is to maximize some form of social welfare vis-à-vis transplanting kidneys. We explore the implications of making the optimization problem dynamic (considering the future evo...
متن کاملSteady-State and Dynamic Simulations of Gas Absorption Column Using MATLAB and SIMULINK
Separation is one of the most important process in all the chemical industries and the gas absorption is the simplest example of separation process which is generally used for the absorption of dilute components from a gaseous mixture. In the present work, a dynamic system of mathematical equation (algebraic and differential) is modeled to predict the behavior of the absorption column using mat...
متن کاملCompeting Dynamic Matching Markets
While dynamic matching markets are usually modeled in isolation, assuming that every agent to be matched enters that market, in many real-world settings there exist rival matching markets with overlapping pools of agents. We extend a framework of dynamic matching due to Akbarpour et al. [2] to characterize outcomes in cases where two such rival matching markets compete with each other. One mark...
